All Saints’ Beverly Hills presents an evening of Baroque music with “Pathopoeia: Music of 17th Century Vienna & Salzburg” on Sunday, May 18, at 5 p.m.

The performance is the final concert of Tesserae’s 2024-25 season, offering a captivating exploration of 17th century musical masterpieces.

The program features winds, strings and singers performing alternating large and intimate works by four composers who held the title of Kapellmeister at the Imperial Court in Vienna between 1626 and 1680. The composers are Giovanni Valentini, Antonio Bertali, Giovanni Felice Sances and Johann Heinrich Schmelzer. The period marked immense musical change, with composers weaving together fantastical elements and sublime beauty, creating a truly unique soundscape.

In addition to the Vienna-based composers, the concert will showcase virtuosic chamber music by Heinrich Biber and choral works by Johann Stadlmayr, both from Salzburg.

The exceptional program, curated by Tesserae’s Grammy-nominated violinist Andrew McIntosh, brings to life the grandeur of 17th century sacred music.

Tickets, which are available at the door, are $50 for premium seating, $35 for adults, $25 for seniors and SCEMS members, and $20 for students. Admission is free for children under 18.
