On April 18-19 at 8:30 p.m., Golden Globe-winning actress Cybill Shepherd brings her cabaret show to the Catalina Jazz Club.

In addition to appearing in seminal film and television classics, Shepherd has frequently graced audiences with her voice. She sang the theme song (“Nice Work if You Can Get It”) to her hit sitcom “Cybill,” memorably crooned “Blue Moon” in a film noir episode of “Moonlighting” and released albums such as “Cybill Does It … To Cole Porter” and “Talk Memphis to Me.” Her Catalina show “Queen of the Lucky Club,” will focus on the music roots of the Memphis-native.

“[The concert] will be a collection of songs I sang over the years with a few new ones sprinkled in the mix,” Shepherd said.

Included among the tunes will be a couple written by Shepherd herself.

“There are two that I have always included in my shows … ‘Graceland Revisited’ is a song I co-wrote with my former musical director, Tom Adams, and it was to honor Elvis. And, ‘Menopause Blues’ because it’s fun and every woman goes through it,” she said.

Shepherd – who has counted director Peter Bogdanovich and author Larry McMurtry among her beaus – once dated Elvis Presley.

Shepherd said that her favorite part of the cabaret setting was being able to share “some humor” and sing “songs that matter” to audiences. She added that, as Los Angeles continues to rebuild from the January wildfires, a concert is “a great gift that can help heal.”

Shepherd, who began her career as a model, rose to prominence during the 1970s with performances in “The Last Picture Show” and “The Heartbreak Kid.” She starred in “Daisy Miller,” “At Long Last Love” and “Taxi Driver,” before turning her attention to TV roles in the 1980s. The mammoth success of “Moonlighting” reinvigorated her acting career, and she continued that success with her self-titled series in the 1990s. In recent years, she has enjoyed recurring roles in “The L Word,” “Psych” and “The Client List,” and in 2023 made the television film “How to Murder Your Husband: The Nancy Brophy Story.” Her 2000 memoir, “Cybill Disobedience” was a bestseller.

Last fall, “Moonlighting” premiered on Hulu after decades of being largely unavailable to watch or stream. Shepherd said that new audiences have been discovering the series and reaching out to her.

“I just received a beautiful letter from a young mother that recently started watching ‘Moonlighting’ and looked up my music via streaming and became a fan of both,” she said. “Her 10 year old even loved one of my movies, she became a fan and sent me the cutest crayon drawing of me at the Oscars in my orange tennis shoes. It all warms my heart.”

“Queen of the Lucky Club” has an impressive assembly of talent behind it. Sunnie Paxson will serve as music director, while Shepherd’s band includes Freddy Ramos (guitar), Mark Towns (bass), Dave Tull (drums, vocals), Frank Fontaine (sax), Sandra Adams (vocals) and Susan Disney Massengale (vocals).

Shepherd said she was excited and thankful to be performing.

“I’m grateful to be alive and still able to do a show,” she said.
