Firefighters were called around 8:45 a.m. on Feb. 14 to a blaze in a commercial building at 601 N. La Brea Ave. that housed the Orgu Dike clothing store. LAFD personnel found light to moderate flames and smoke in a wall in the one-story row of units, with the flames threatening a shared attic. Firefighters went into an offensive mode and opened walls, LAFD spokeswoman Lyndsey Lantz said. The fire was extinguished in 33 minutes. Crews remained at the scene to ensure the flames did not reignite and helped with overhaul and salvage operations. No injuries were reported.
The store remained closed on Feb. 18. The cause is under investigation.
