Members launches authentic Moroccan cuisine at Kasbah
On Jan. 29, Kasbah opened its doors, bringing Hollywood deeply authentic Moroccan food in a truly glamorous setting. The lushly appointed space is hidden within the maze of Members, the vibrant club and restaurant on Sunset Boulevard. Patrons can dine at Kasbah, then spend the evening dancing the night away in the newly renovated nightclub. A nod to the storied history of the building it occupies, Kasbah offers a rich representation of Moroccan cuisine, filling a void in the Los Angeles dining scene that Dar Maghreb left when it closed. The kitchen is a collaboration by Thomas Fuks, founder of 111 Hospitality, and chef Rachida, whom Fuks discovered when eating her food many years ago at his home, alongside the executive chef of Members, Alex Moreno.
Fuks, who is fresh off the heels of opening Amour & Puzzle, has spent years convincing Rachida to bring her talent to a restaurant kitchen. Born and raised in Casablanca, the vibrant heart of Morocco, Rachida brought the legacy of her home to L.A. where she has spent decades cooking for friends and family, slowly gaining a cult following for her signature dishes including comforting Harissa soup and a flavorful Tagine, prepared with either lamb or chicken. Her legacy is her food, and she is working closely with Fuks to bring it life. Together the duo is set to expand on Fuks’ passion for adaptive reuse and renovation by harnessing the spirit of Dar Maghreb within the concept.
As Kasbah opens its doors, Members will also debut a new menu from Moreno that is reflective of the nightclub’s elevated experience, shifting the cuisine towards small plates and lighter bites.
For information, visit members. love/kasbahbymembers. Kasbah by Members is located at 7627 W. Sunset Blvd.
