Community newspapers provide valuable coverage of local issues, and Beverly Press/Park Labrea News can take a bow on that score. Now your endorsement of Kamala Harris for president raises your public service to a whole new level.

The L.A. Times declined to make an endorsement for president, apparently because the publisher’s daughter interfered with editorial policy. The Washington Post declined to make an endorsement for president, apparently to protect the business interests of an owner who fears retribution.

The Beverly Press/Park Labrea News stood up and endorsed sanity, decency, sound policy, respect for the U.S. Constitution and Kamala Harris. The accompanying “Notable Quote” underscores the arrogance and corruption that put “Boss” Tweed behind bars and provides, as you noted, a “cautionary tale of one New Yorker for another.”
