Metro is building the D Line subway extension project from Wilshire/Western to Westwood, with work ongoing at many locations along Wilshire Boulevard.

Section One of the project from Wilshire/Western to Wilshire/La Cienega is anticipated to open at the end of 2025. Section Two to Century City/Constellation is anticipated to open in 2026, and Section Three to the Westwood/VA Hospital station will open in 2027.

Street restoration work is occurring near the Wilshire/Western, Wilshire La Brea, Wilshire/Fairfax and Wilshire/La Cienega stations. At the eastern end of the project, crews are working at and around a construction staging yard just west of Wilshire Boulevard and Western Avenue. Wilshire Boulevard has been reduced to two lanes in each direction between Oxford Avenue and Saint Andrews Place. Left turns are prohibited from Wilshire Boulevard to Western Avenue and from eastbound Wilshire Boulevard to northbound Saint Andrews Place.

Through Nov. 18, crews are working on a utility access hatch near Wilshire Boulevard and Orange Drive. Wilshire Boulevard may be reduced to a single lane between La Brea and Mansfield avenues. Weekend and overnight eastbound directional closures may also be implemented.

In the Miracle Mile, crews are working through March 2025 in a K-rail work zone in the middle of Wilshire Boulevard between Courtyard Place and Masselin Avenue. Wilshire Boulevard is reduced to two lanes in each direction between Ridgely Drive and Curson Avenue. Access to driveways will be maintained in the closure area.

Street restoration work is ongoing near the Wilshire/Fairfax station. For approximately four months, a K-rail work zone will remain on the north side of Wilshire Boulevard between San Diego Way and Orange Grove Avenue. Wilshire Boulevard will be reduced to two lanes in each direction. A K-rail work zone also remains in place near the intersection of Wilshire Boulevard and La Jolla Avenue. Crews are working on a cross passage between the tunnels. Wilshire Boulevard is reduced to two lanes in each direction near the intersection.

Work is ongoing on the Wilshire/La Cienega station, where a K-rail work zone has been implemented on the north side of Wilshire Boulevard between San Vicente and La Cienega boulevards. Street restoration is anticipated to run until early 2025 in the area. Concrete and material deliveries are ongoing to the underground station.

Near Wilshire/Rodeo, crews are working on the subway station and at street level. Cañon Drive remains closed south of Wilshire Boulevard through Nov. 15. Intermittent lane closures may be implemented on Wilshire Boulevard.

Work is also ongoing on the subway station in Century City, near Avenue of the Stars and Constellation Boulevard. Placement of structural concrete for the Century Construction of the interior and roof structures is ongoing for the Century City/Constellation Station. Crews are moving utilities in the area on Avenue of the Stars, south of Constellation Blvd. The work will require lane reductions until the middle of December. Avenue of the Stars will be reduced to one northbound lane north of Constellation Boulevard, and two southbound lanes. Left turns will be restricted on northbound Avenue of the Stars onto westbound Constellation Boulevard.
