Celebrating its fourth year, Beverly Hills-based non-profit entity Not Today Cancer invites community members to race through Beverly Hills to raise funds and awareness to support cures for childhood cancer.
The fourth annual family-friendly “Beverly Hills Run of the Stars” is open to people of all ages and abilities, kicking off at 8 a.m. at the brand new El Rodeo Elementary School on Sunday,
Oct. 6. Participants are given the option of walking or running a flat 5k course, access to an expo with exhibitors, face painting and activities for kids, music and food carts.
The event will also feature a silent auction for tickets to see Tiffany Haddish or the L.A. Clippers, plus a swag bag to go with them. Each participant receives a special fourth edition Beverly Hills Run of the Stars Finisher Medal. There will be prizes for first, second and third place.
“We wanted to create a healthy event that not only cultivates awareness and raises funds forpediatric cancer research, but also fosters a sense of community and enjoyment around acritical cause,” Not Today Cancer co-founder J.J. Duncan said. “Despite childhoodcancer rates being on the rise, a tiny percentage of U.S. federal funding goes to research forchildren’s cancer. Cancer does not care what your insurance status is. It does not care whatage you are. It does not care how much money you have in your checking account. Cancer affects everybody.”
“Beverly Hills is a beautiful and iconic city, and one of the most welcoming communities in the world, and when we called on this community to join us in our mission the answer was overwhelming,” Not Today Cancer co-founder Stacey Book said. “We are all working together to support children and families battling cancer by supporting promising new treatment options and legislation like the Childhood Cancer STAR Act – Survivorship, Treatment, Access and Research – to get much more funding for our kids.”
Those who would like to sponsor the event or learn more about sponsorship opportunities may contact Stacey Book at stacey@nottodaycancer.care. Onsite registration is available the day before the race on Oct. 5 from 3-6 p.m. or on the day of the race starting at 7:30 a.m. at El Rodeo Elementary School, located at 605 Whittier Drive.
