Friends of the L.A. River, also known as FoLAR, invites the public to the 34th annual Great L.A. River CleanUp on Saturday, Oct. 5. Shifts start at 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. at sites along the river that connect members of L.A.’s diverse communities.

Volunteers are encouraged to join cleanups at Bull Creek (Upper River), North Atwater Park (Middle River), Compton Creek (Lower River) and Willow St. Bridge (Lower River).

In conjunction with FoLAR’s mission to build capacity for communities, students and future leaders to advocate for nature, climate and equity on the LA River, the annual event will offer additional educational activities with environmental groups including the Water Replenishment District at Willow Street Bridge, the San Fernando Valley Audubon Society at Bull Creek and Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, the 4th District City Council office, Takataka Club and river-adjacent neighborhood councils at North Atwater Park.
