Re “WeHo considers major stand on gun sales,” Sept. 5 issue
It is vitally important that [Mayor] John Erickson has at his disposal unlimited city staff resources to write and publicize these performative gestures that he can use in his future campaign literature.
I suggest that he expend more time and city resources on the nuts and bolts of sound municipal governance, like public safety, and less time prancing and preening for campaign sound bites. The City Council’s fetish for grandstanding on national issues by positioning West Hollywood as a singular voice is a disturbing arrogation of residents’ rights to diversity of thought and opinion.
For the record, I am an individual with a voice who happens to support national gun control laws. I need no titular mayor of a provincial small town to speak for me on this issue, or any other.
