The Los Angeles County Fire Department, in collaboration with the Los Angeles County Women’s Fire League, will host the 10th Girls’ Fire Camp on Saturday, Oct. 5, from 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. at the department’s Cecil R. Gehr Memorial Combat Training Center, 1320 N. Eastern Ave.
The Girls’ Fire Camp offers all youth 9-17 an opportunity to participate in engaging activities with firefighters, lifeguards, dispatchers and professional staff. The camp empowers and inspires young people by teaching firefighting skills and techniques, giving them familiarity and experience with equipment and tools, and introducing them to career pathways and community engagement programs. It includes a light exercise and workout activity, equipment demonstrations, information and access to career opportunities and youth programs, and discussion groups with public safety professionals. Beyond skill-building exercises, the camp fosters leadership, teamwork and perseverance while providing youth a firsthand look into the Los Angeles County Fire Department’s role in serving the community.
Space is limited. For information and to register, call (310)419-2115, email fire-recruitment@fire.la county.gov or visit fire.lacounty .gov/girls-fire-camp.
