A ruptured gas pipe prompted authorities to close the intersection of Sunset and La Cienega boulevards on Aug. 19 while crews repaired the damage.

Workers at a construction site near the intersection accidentally damaged a two-inch pipe around 10 a.m. Crews from the Southern California Gas Company responded, stopped the leak and repaired the pipe by 2 p.m., spokesman Aaron Ortiz said.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s West Hollywood Station and the city of West Hollywood issued advisories about the gas leak, cautioning people to avoid the area but also stating there was no imminent danger to the public.

Ortiz said the Southern California Gas Company reminds residents and business owners to call 811 to locate gas pipes before digging at construction sites or yards. For information, visit socalgas.com.
