Thai staple celebrates 20th anniversary
Ayara Thai, known among LA foodies for its home-cooked Thai food with an Angeleno twist, unmatched hospitality, elevated desserts and buzzworthy collaborations is proudly celebrating its 20th anniversary. While much has changed since 2004, Ayara has held true to quality, its family Thai recipes and innovation, which have made it a westside destination for Thai-food lovers and, due to their proximity to LAX, travelers. In August 2004, after opening and closing several restaurants over the years, chefs Andy and Anna Asapahu opened Ayara Thai, mindfully entering into what would be their final endeavor in the food space. Growing up “restaurant kids,” their daughters Vanda and Cathy never thought they’d go into the family business, but after college, postgrad, living in other cities in their 20s and pursuing different careers for a time, they ultimately returned to Ayara to carry on the torch of the family business. Their brother, Peter, a PGA Golf Pro, lends a hand on occasion for events and busier periods.
Join the Asapahus and Team Ayara for a two-day Thai brunch experience Aug. 17-18 (a departure from its usual offerings) as Vanda and Cathy fuse their Thai heritage with their Angeleno upbringing across the menu – a mix of dishes inspired by the vibrant flavors of Thai, American and Angeleno cuisine. To make reservations, visit opentable.com/r/ayara-thai-los-angeles. Ayara Thai is located at 6245 W. 87th St. For information, visit ayarathai.com or call (310)410-8848.
