The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority has announced more construction plans along Wilshire Boulevard for the D Line Subway Extension project.

At the eastern end of the project, street restoration work continues near the Wilshire/Western subway station construction yard. Wilshire Boulevard is reduced to two lanes in each direction between Oxford Avenue and Saint Andrews Place. A K-rail work zone is in place along the north side of Wilshire Boulevard.

Street restoration work is also ongoing near the Wilshire/La Brea station. Intermittent closures will be implemented on Detroit Street at Wilshire Boulevard to support street restoration work through October. A K-rail work zone is in place on the south side of Wilshire Boulevard between La Brea and Mansfield avenues, and lane reductions are in place on Wilshire Boulevard between Detroit Street and Highland Avenue.

South Sycamore Avenue will be intermittently closed at Wilshire Boulevard from 7 a.m.-3 p.m. through August. The temporary traffic control supports street restoration on Sycamore Avenue.

Through October, a K-rail work zone is located in the middle lanes of Wilshire Boulevard between Fairfax and Spaulding avenues for street restoration and traffic switch work. Wilshire Boulevard will be reduced to two lanes in each direction.

Farther west, Wilshire Boulevard will be intermittently reduced to a single lane in each direction between San Vicente and La Cienega boulevards during weekend and off-peak hours through September. Access to side streets may be reduced intermittently. Weekend work hours are generally 8 p.m. on Friday through 7 a.m. on Monday. Off-peak hours include weeknights from 8 p.m.-7 a.m. the following morning.

Water line utility work is also scheduled along Wilshire Boulevard between San Vicente and La Cienega boulevards. Properties between La Cienega and San Vicente boulevards, and Gregory and Clifton ways, may experience overnight water service disruption.

Crews plan to implement a full closure of Cañon Drive south of Wilshire Boulevard in early September until the holiday work moratorium begins in November. The closure supports decking removal and street restoration. Potholing on Wilshire Boulevard for future piling work is anticipated to start in September.

In Century City, crews are pouring structural concrete 24 hours through September at the new subway station. Work zones and partial traffic lane closures will be in place on Avenue of the Stars. Left turns will be restricted from northbound Avenue of the Stars onto westbound Constellation Boulevard. Nightly closures on Constellation Boulevard will support the placement of structural concrete for the subway station.
