Four Beverly Hills High School students won second place at the national SkillsUSA Competition in June. The SkillsUSA Championship Competition showcases the best Career and Technical Education students in the nation. Over the last decade, BHHS culinary, business and media students have competed on local, state and national levels. This year KBEV, the Beverly Hills High School student television station shown on Spectrum Channel 6 to 100,000 homes in and around Beverly Hills, made it to nationals in Atlanta.

For the first time in 10 years of competition, the KBEV team won second place nationally. The Beverly Hills Unified School District congratulates Aaron Gabayan, Jason Maybaum, Nora Nikfarjam and Colby Gilardian for achieving the monumental milestone in the Video News Production category. Their exceptional skills and dedication stood out among over 300,000 participants, propelling both BHHS and California onto the national stage. BHUSD thanks Professor Carey, for guiding this group of future media innovators. This elective pathway offering started in sixth grade for our winning team – seven years ago – and is available for sixth-eighth grade GATE students and all ninth-12th grade students.
