A fire caused heavy damage to a single-family home on June 1 at 636 N. Lucerne Boulevard, just south of Melrose Avenue in Larchmont Village. The Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety red-tagged the home, deeming it uninhabitable.
Firefighters responded at 9 a.m. and found flames emanating from the rear portion of the residence. Thirty-seven firefighters battled the blaze, which was extinguished in 27 minutes.
“Firefighters determined the fire started outside about six feet away from the structure,” LAFD spokesman Nicholas Prange said. “I don’t have any indication whether the home was occupied at the time but it appears to have started on the deck and then spread to the structure. The fire damaged one vehicle on the property.”
Prange said authorities were unable to pinpoint how the fire started.
“After an investigation, the cause was undetermined,” he added. “No injuries were reported.
