Los Angeles Police Department detectives arrested two people allegedly involved in an assault on actor Ian Ziering on New Year’s Eve on Hollywood Boulevard.
Police said the two people who were arrested – Jacob Esteban Hernandez, 20, of Rosemead, and Angie Teresa Guizar, 40, of Los Angeles – were among a group of mini-bike riders who were involved in an altercation with Ziering as he waited in traffic in the 6800 block of Hollywood Boulevard around 3 p.m. on Dec. 31. Ziering was in his Mercedes SUV with his 10-year-old daughter when one of the riders allegedly sideswiped the vehicle, police said. Ziering exited, was confronted by the riders and a fight ensued. The incident was captured on video and widely broadcast by the media.
In the video, Ziering is seen struggling with four or five people wearing motorcycle helmets and masks. One of the riders, believed to be Hernandez, struck Ziering’s windshield and damaged the vehicle. Police said Ziering was not injured and got back inside his SUV. The suspects rode away on their mini-bikes.
Police used video from the scene to identify Hernandez and Guizar. Officers from the LAPD’s Wilshire Division and Metropolitan Division served search warrants around 6 a.m. on May 21 at the suspects’ residences and both assailants were arrested without incident. Hernandez was booked for felony vandalism and his bail was set at $50,000. Guizar was booked for assault with a deadly weapon and her bail was set at $30,000.
