The Los Angeles Fire Department extinguished a blaze inside a vacant house at 138 S. Alta Vista Blvd. on April 24 after forcing entry and locating flames inside, LAFD spokesman Nicholas Prange said.
Firefighters received a call at 6:59 a.m. and found light smoke emanating from the two-story, single-family residence, he added. Thirty-two firefighters arrived minutes later. They had to cut through a chain link fence surrounding the property and force entry into the residence, which was unoccupied, Prange said.
“They found a fire under the stairs that had spread a little bit and they extinguished it at 7:12 a.m.,” Prange said. “After it was out, they brought in fans and blowers to clear the air. No injuries were reported. [Firefighters] said it happened to be vacant. The cause was undermined.”
