Immaculate Heart High School students celebrated the festive tradition of Mary’s Day on May 3 in honor of the school’s patroness and women around the world.

The celebration featured an opening liturgy followed by a colorful procession to the quad, where students crowned the statue of Mary, performed the “Great Lawn Dance,” cheered during the Maypole Dance and later enjoyed potluck lunches with classmates. This year’s theme “Mary, Untier of Knots” encouraged students to reach beyond fear and anxiety and draw hope from connections with others.

Founded in 1906, Immaculate Heart High School and Middle School educates and empowers young women in sixth through 12th grades at its campus in the Los Feliz foothills near Griffith Park at 5515 Franklin Ave. The student body of more than 600 young women is geographically and ethnically diverse, drawing on students from throughout Los Angeles County.
