Officers from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Wilshire Division are searching for two suspects who allegedly smashed a glass rear door of a residence in the Melrose area on April 1 and attempted to commit a burglary.
The incident occurred at approximately 10:30 p.m. in the 800 block of North Sierra Bonita Avenue. A victim was home at the time when the two suspects entered the house. The victim screamed and the suspects fled through the rear door without taking any property, police said. Officers were unable to locate the suspects but found security cameras they hope will help identify the perpetrators, Lt. Mark Ro said. No description of the suspects was available.
In an unrelated case, officers arrested a man in the Melrose area on March 30 after he allegedly threatened a victim in the 800 block of North Spaulding Ave. The suspect, who the lieutenant said is homeless, brandished a two-by-four piece of wood and threatened a resident. The victim called police and the suspect fled. Officers established a perimeter and found him hiding in a nearby backyard. The man, who was not identified, was taken into custody without incident, Ro said.
Anyone with information about the incidents is urged to call the LAPD’s Wilshire Division at (213)922-8205 or (213)473-0476. During weekends and off-hours, call the LAPD’s hotline at (877)LAPD-247.
