The #FirstFridays 2024 season, “From Feelings to Pheromones” continues with its May edition, “The Plant Clones are Coming.” As always, the event will provide an unparalleled opportunity to explore NHM after hours with live performances, DJs, topical discussions, signature cocktails and food trucks.

The season’s theme explores the forces that shape the behaviors and sex lives of life forms, large and small. On May 3, rare plant ecologist Kevin Alison and neuroscientist and moderator Dr. Yewande Pearse will discuss “The Micropropagation Connection: Our Relationship with Plants and How Cloning Plants Can Affect the Greater Biosphere.” They’ll be examining how applications in agriculture, horticulture, forestry and plant breeding have made cloning plants a fast-growing trend and explore the ways in which asexual reproduction has taken place in the natural world for millions of years.

Catch a vibe with outdoor musical performances and DJs, featuring a headlining set by JaRon Marshall and additional performances by Wyldeflower (KCRW/Dublab), Dave Harrington, Max Jaffe and Patrick Shiroishi, setting the mood throughout the evening. Experience an indoor Sensory Lounge in the Grand Foyer, a captivating blend of visual art and soundscape curated by LAVA and Femme House, along with local vendors Herbalaria, Latinx With Plants and Sad Girl Creamery.
