The Beverly Hills Police Department released an update on the Tesla Cybertruck crash that occurred near the iconic Beverly Hills Hotel sign on March 3.

The BHPD had previously said that the collision involved two vehicles, but the statement released on March 12 clarified that it involved a “solo vehicle.”

“The vehicle was traveling westbound on Sunset Blvd. when it attempted to negotiate a turn into the driveway/entrance of the Beverly Hills Hotel,” the BHPD statement read. “Subsequently, the vehicle sustained major front-end damage due to the collision.”

The report stated that the Beverly Hills Fire Department was also present to treat injuries, but none of the three passengers were transported to a hospital.

“Upon investigation, it was determined that unsafe speed was a contributing factor to the cause of the accident,” the statement read.

Images and videos of the incident went viral on social media after a user falsely claimed that the Cybertruck was being driven by a hotel valet, even drawing the response of Tesla founder and X (formerly Twitter) owner Elon Musk. The user later clarified that he was joking, and that no hotel staff were involved.

“The BHPD reminds all motorists to exercise caution and adhere to speed limits, especially when navigating turns and entering private properties,” the statement read.
