The Korean Cultural Center Los Angeles will host a book talk event with author Soyoung Park about the new Korean dystopian novel “Snowglobe” on Saturday, March 2, at 3 p.m. at Vroman’s Bookstore in Pasadena.
Park has received the Original Story Award and Young Adult Novel Award from the Changbi Publishers and the digital reading platform Kakaopage of South Korea. “Snowglobe” tells the story of a 16-year-old girl living in a future society divided between the “Outer World” and the “Snowglobe,” searching for her true self. “Snowglobe” has been optioned for film by CJ Entertainment, the production company that produced “Parasite” and “Snowpiercer.”
“This book talk event is a meaningful opportunity to introduce intriguing new generation Korean literary works to the local community in the United States,” KCCLA director Sangwon Jung said. “We hope ‘Snowglobe’ will leap into a Korean version of ‘The Hunger Games’.”
Park will read and discuss “Snowglobe,” followed by a book signing ceremony. The event is free and participants can purchase the book at Vroman’s, 695 E. Colorado Blvd. in Pasadena. For information, visit kccla.org.
