On Jan. 28, chef John Cleveland will begin his residency as an emerging chef at Downtown Los Angeles’ Abernethy’s. The destination restaurant showcases the best emerging chefs from throughout the county, selected by some of the most notable names in Los Angeles’ restaurant scene. At Abernethy’s, Cleveland will serve the California Comfort Food he is known for, showcasing classic Post & Beam dishes as well as beloved off the menu specials.
Menu will include certified Angus beef short rib, smoked mac and cheese black eyed peas, long cooked collards greens, Dungeness crab cakes, catfish nuggets, P&B cornbread and vegan crabcakes.
A rising star in the culinary world, Cleveland is head chef and co-owner of the casual fine-dining restaurant, Post & Beam. Along with his wife Roni, he took over the reins of this 11-year-old restaurant in 2019 with the goal of continuing its legacy as one of South L.A.’s most revered, award-winning, black-owned restaurants.
Abernethy highlights notable chefs from the Los Angeles area by rotating who is helming the kitchen.
Abernethy’s is located at 220 N. Hope St. For information, visit abernethysla.com.
