Former Los Angeles County Supervisor Ed Edelman presided over a dedication ceremony for Pan Pacific Park in the Dec. 9, 1983, issue of the Park Labrea News. The ceremony marked the culmination of a 10-year process to construct the park, which is located between Third Street and Beverly Boulevard near The Grove Drive. Edelman was joined at the ceremony by the late Los Angeles Council President John Ferraro and then-City Councilman Zev Yaroslavsky, as well as former state Sen. David Roberti. The county purchased the 28-acre parcel in 1975 for $10.4 million and created the park, which also serves as a flood control basin.
