The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority has temporarily halted street-level work in Beverly Hills on the Purple Line Extension project for the holidays. Subway construction in public areas in Beverly Hills will resume on Jan. 2.

In other areas, crews are continuing work on the project underground and at street level. At the eastern end of the project crews are working at and around the future subway stations at Wilshire/La Brea and Wilshire/Fairfax. Street restoration is ongoing at both locations, including the restoration of curbs, gutters and sidewalks.

Through the end of December, Wilshire Boulevard will be reduced to two lanes in each direction between Highland and La Brea avenues. The work zone and traffic control support the replacement of sidewalks, curbs, gutters and streetlights on the south side of Wilshire Boulevard. Intermittent closures on Detroit Street at Wilshire Boulevard may also be implemented for street restoration work.

Construction is ongoing in the staging area on the south side of Wilshire Boulevard at Ogden Drive. Crews are also working inside a K-rail work zone on the north side of Wilshire Boulevard at Fairfax Avenue.

A little farther west, Wilshire Boulevard will be reduced to two lanes in each direction at La Jolla Avenue, where a K-rail work zone will be in place until at least June 2024. The work area will allow completion of a cross passage and twin tunnels under Wilshire Boulevard.

Work is also ongoing in the staging yards at Wilshire/La Cienega. A K-rail work zone has been implemented on the north side of Wilshire Boulevard between San Vicente and La Cienega boulevards, and along northbound La Cienega Boulevard. Wilshire Boulevard will be reduced to two lanes in each direction between San Vicente and La Cienega boulevards, and a portion of northbound La Cienega Boulevard will be reduced to two lanes just north of Wilshire Boulevard. The traffic control supports ongoing civil restoration work including the construction of new curbs, sidewalks, pedestrian ramps and tree wells.

Strut removal, concrete and material deliveries and instrumentation are also ongoing at and around the Wilshire/La Cienega station. Intermittent lane closures, turn restrictions and sidewalk closures may be in place in the area.

Work on South Beverly Drive for the construction of appendage structures, and proposed decking and excavation activity on South Cañon Drive at Wilshire Boulevard, are expected to resume in January. The contractor is continuing station construction and utility work in Beverly Hills.

At the Century City/ Constellation station, crews are continuing to relocate a storm drain through February and are building the subway station. Workers will also be removing sections of the tunneling machines along Constellation Boulevard near Solar Way through March 23. Intermittent lane closures will be implemented on Constellation Boulevard.
