The city of West Hollywood dedicated its Veterans Memorial in this photograph in the Nov. 13, 2003, issue of the Beverly Press and Park Labrea News. The memorial was championed by and named after the late West Hollywood City Councilman Sal Guarriello, who served during World War II and was an ardent supporter of veterans. Located at the intersection of Santa Monica Boulevard and Holloway Drive, the memorial was dedicated on Veterans Day 2003 and continues to serve as the site of the city’s annual Veterans Day ceremony. This year, the ceremony will be held on Saturday, Nov. 11, at 11 a.m. and will feature wreaths and American flags, the Pledge of Allegiance, a bugler playing “Taps” and a moment of silence followed by “The National Anthem” performed by members of the Gay Men’s Chorus of Los Angeles.
