Deputies from the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station arrested a 43-year-old man on Aug. 30 who allegedly used an axe or machete during an attack on another man on Aug. 19 near Romaine Street and Highland Avenue.

Capt. Bill Moulder, of the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station, said a crime bulletin with the suspect’s photograph was issued after the assault and West Hollywood deputies saw and arrested the man in the 7100 block of Sunset Boulevard. The suspect was identified as Eric Vanhorn, who has a lengthy criminal record in the Hollywood area.

Few details were available about the Aug. 19 attack, which occurred around 1 p.m. just outside the city of West Hollywood in Los Angeles. The victim sustained a laceration and was hospitalized.

“Because of the great partnership and sharing of information between the LASD’s West Hollywood Station and LAPD Hollywood, West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station deputies were able to locate and arrest the suspect,” Moulder said.

Vanhorn was booked for assault with a deadly weapon and held on $1.1 million bail in the Men’s Central Jail.
