Kathy Griffin introduced Cinespia’s Sept. 2 screening of “The Devil Wears Prada” at Hollywood Forever Cemetery, presented by Amazon Studios. Griffin captivated the crowd with a brief stand-up routine about the film. The comedian, who was diagnosed lung cancer in 2021, is getting back to touring after recovering from her illness and surgery to remove half of her left lung.
“There was some controversary when the film came out because everyone thought that Meryl Streep was playing Anna Wintour from ‘Vogue,’ obviously it’s knocked off on that stuff, but she’s playing Ellen,” Griffin quipped during her intro.
Cinespia will be wrapping up its summer season on Sept. 9 and 16 with screenings of “The Royal Tenenbaums” and “Scarface,” respectively. For tickets and information, visit cinespia.org. Hollywood Forever Cemetery is located at 6000 Santa Monica Blvd.
