The public is invited to “The Great Outdoors at Greystone” on Saturday, Sept. 23, from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. at Greystone Mansion and Gardens, 905 Loma Vista Drive.
The day-long festival celebrates the natural beauty of Greystone’s formal gardens and Community Demonstration Garden. Free activities will be held and two workshops – a Forest Bathing Walk and Herb Gardening Class – are available for a nominal fee. The Forest Bathing Walk is an immersive and meditative stroll through the grounds inspired by the Japanese practice of shinrin-yoku. Advance reservations are required for the two workshops and reservations can be made at beverlyhills.org/greatoutdoors.
Greystone Mansion and Gardens was dedicated as a Beverly Hills park in September 1971.
In celebration of the treasured gem and its 52nd anniversary as a public park, “The Great Outdoors at Greystone Celebration of Nature” will include seedling plantings, a poetry walk, meditation moments, a scavenger hunt, art and nature-themed projects and a harpist.
The Forest Bathing Nature Walk will be held from 9:30-11:30 a.m. and the Herb Gardening Glass runs from 10 a.m.-11:30 a.m. Poetry by Request with poet laureate Brian Sonia-Wallace will be held from 11 a.m.-3 p.m., and the Poetry Walk and Scavenger Hunt from 1 a.m.-4 p.m. Seedlings in the Demonstration Garden runs from noon-3 p.m., and Art + Nature: Make A Cyanotype to Bring Home runs from 1-2 p.m.
Walking shoes are recommended, however shuttle services will be provided.
