Los Angeles Police Department officers arrested a female suspect on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs following a collision on July 1 in the Beverly Crest area that critically injured two people. The driver was identified as Darkavia Jacobs, 22.
Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey said firefighters were summoned to an area off 13100 W. Mulholland Drive around 5:57 p.m. and found a vehicle that had overturned. The collision occurred on private property behind a gate, he said. The vehicle had five occupants, two of whom were ejected from the vehicle during the crash.
Three people were taken by paramedics to hospitals, Humphrey said. Two were in critical condition and the other had unspecified non-life-threatening injuries. The driver and one of the occupants were not injured.
LAPD spokeswoman Melissa Podany said officers were summoned and launched an investigation. Jacobs was later taken into custody.
“One person was arrested for felony DUI,” she added. “Three people were injured.”
Podany added that the exact cause of the crash remains under investigation. Jacobs was held on $100,000 bail.
