Beverly Hills Police Department officers arrested two suspects, one male and one female, following a vehicle burglary on July 10 in an alley near the 9300 block of Wilshire Boulevard.
Officers responded to a call around 5:39 p.m. about a vehicle being vandalized and determined two individuals were attempting to commit a car burglary. As officers arrived at the scene, the suspects entered a vehicle and attempted to drive away southbound in the alley, BHPD Lt. Reginald Evans said.
As additional officers were traveling northbound in the alley toward the fleeing vehicle, the suspects sideswiped the oncoming police car and nearly struck an officer, Evans added. The suspects continued southbound in the alley and struck a vehicle with three people inside on Gregory Avenue.
The two suspects exited their vehicle and fled on foot. They were taken into custody a short time later. Firefighters rescued the three victims, who were members of the same family, from the vehicle that was struck. Paramedics treated them at the scene before taking them to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries, Evans added.
The male suspect was identified as Ivan Perez, 27. Perez was booked for burglary of a motor vehicle, assault with a deadly weapon, felony hit and run, possession of drug paraphernalia and evading officers. Investigators have not been able to determine Perez’s city of residence.
The female suspect was identified as Brenda Vega, 23, of Monterey Park. She was booked for resisting officers and a felony warrant. Anyone with information is asked to call the BHPD at (310)550-4951.
