The official summer season is almost upon us, so to keep busy when bars grow old and travel options dwindle, hopefully these 13 television and film options keep the good timelines rolling.

‘Star Trek: Strange New Worlds’ season two premiere, June 15

Before James T. Kirk captained the Enterprise, Christopher Pike (Anson Mount) led its crew to strange new worlds. The Easter-egg connections to other “Star Trek” entries are splendid, but that first season sported some fantastic premises and gorgeous visuals. The second season is sure to build on a great start.

‘The Flash,’ June 16

This one brims with complicated emotions. Ezra Miller finally got out of the limelight, but he sure left a trail of destruction. But he’s not the only one in this film. Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck each reprise roles as Batman, Michael Shannon returns as General Zod, and Sasha Calle debuts as Supergirl. A lot looks like it occurs in this multiverse story … and it actually looks good. But Miller is still there. Oh boy.

‘Extraction 2,’ June 16

Last he appeared, Chris Hemsworth’s Tyler Rake seemed done for. Nope. He’s back and ready for more non-stop action, including at least one crazy-looking tracking shot. What’s the plot? Don’t know, don’t care.

‘Secret Invasion’ premiere, June 21

Sam Jackson’s Nick Fury finally takes center stage in a Marvel Studios series all about a faction of shapeshifting aliens ready to do something unsavory. Familiar faces are set to appear, but the story remains a mystery, which is rather perfect for this espionage thriller.

‘The Bear’ season 2, June 22

The “comedy” in quotes only returns to Hulu a year after its debut, hopefully with the same level of stressful kitchen hijinks. And oh happy day, the whole series drops at once to feast on those triggering episodes and the good food likely to be on display.

‘The Witcher’ season 3, part 1, June 29

Get ready to bid Henry Cavill farewell in June and then July when both parts of “The Witcher’s” third season drop on Netflix. The mere idea of Liam Hemsworth taking the reins makes no sense, but the present sendoff will likely be an action-packed fantasy romp.

‘Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny,’ June 30

Indy’s previous outing left a terrible taste in most folks’ mouths, and early reviews for Harrison Ford’s last hurrah as the whip-lovin’ archeologist doesn’t seem less bitter. Whelp, even a train wreck with “Indiana Jones” in the title deserves one viewing, ya know, for science reasons.

‘Mission: Impossible-Dead Reckoning, Part 1,’ July 12

Wow that name’s a mouthful. No matter. Tom Cruise’s “Mission: Impossible” flicks know not failure, and the seventh installment will probably keep that track record going with a mix of CGI and practical effects, including Cruise’s affinity for performing some stunts himself.

‘What We Do in the Shadows’ season five premiere, July 13

Get ready for the dumbest, kookiest vampires to shine from the shadows once more. This satiric mockumentary brilliantly dances between dark comedy and ludicrous shenanigans, all the while taking a beat at least once an episode for a sincere moment. More so, the characters grow and change even if their vamp selves are stuck at the same age for an eternity.

‘Oppenheimer,’ July 21

“Tenet” is a mediocre film, but Chris Nolan’s next project will probably rectify that. A World War II flick focusing on “the father of the atomic bomb,” as he’s called. The star-studded cast alone is wild: Robert Downey Jr., Florence Pugh, Matt Damon, Emily Blunt, Rami Malek, Josh Hartnett and Kenneth Branagh. And the Scarecrow himself, Cillian Murphy, finally takes center   stage. At the very least, it sounds intriguing.

‘Barbie,’ July 21

Apparently, the Margot Robbie flick caused a national pink paint shortage. So that’s a thing. The trailers look bland, but writer-director Greta Gerwig (“Lady Bird,” 2019’s “Little Women”) and co-writer Noah Baumbach (“The Marriage Story”) don’t produce junk. So maybe it won’t suck?

‘Only Murders in the Building’ season three, Aug. 8

Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez are back for a third time in the entirely delightful murder-mystery comedy series on Hulu. Prepare for guest stars including Meryl Streep and more accidental victories from the most unlikely comedy trio on the small screen right now.

‘Ahsoka’ premiere, Aug. 23

Rosario Dawson is the perfect casting as the former pupil of Anakin Skywalker. Now in her own show, “Ahsoka” looks epic on its own and a splendid conclusion to the open-ended events of the animated series “Star Wars: Rebels,” with plenty of characters making their live-action debut here. It should serve as a great way to end summer viewing.
