The Heal the Bay Aquarium is holding summer camps to keep young minds engaged during the break from school.
Celebrating its 20th year, the aquarium underneath the historic Santa Monica Pier hosts more than 10,000 visitors each year, with roughly two-thirds coming from schools in underserved areas. During summer day camps, children can learn about Heal the Bay programs. Participants can feed sharks and sea stars at the Heal the Bay Aquarium Touch Tanks; learn about local marine life from immersive Pacific Ocean animal exhibits housing amazing creatures, from sea hares and endangered giant sea bass and moray eels; and discover the impact of conservation with toes-in-the-sand exploration, scientific experiments, fun in the sun and crafts on Santa Monica Beach.
The camps run from June 26 through Aug. 4. For information, call (310)393-6149 ext. 200, or visit healthebay.org/camps.
