Artists and Activists for Health Equity in association with LA Pride and the Ebony Repertory Theatre is thrilled to announce the exciting details of its highly anticipated second annual Dance for Life Festival on Saturday, June 24, at the renowned Nate Holden Performing Arts Center, located at 4718 W. Washington Blvd, with a 2 p.m. matinee performance and a 7 p.m. evening performance followed by a VIP reception.

This dynamic event aims to combat HIV/AIDS and address health disparities, featuring captivating performances by 12 critically acclaimed companies. Dance for Life offers a unique opportunity to witness some of America’s premier dance companies, choreographers, and leading dancers in a diverse range of genres, including classical ballet, modern and contemporary ballet, tap, hip-hop, salsa, ballroom and Mexican folk.

Highlighting the festival’s program, we are honored to present for the first time Debbie Allen Dance Academy, Pacifico Dance Company, Blue13 Dance Company, AIM by Kyle Abraham and Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater featuring the talented Yannick Lebrun.

Returning for the second year, BalletRed, BodyTraffic, Ido Tadmor Dance Project with Chasen Greenwood, Latin Rage by Lyrik Cruz and Complexions Contemporary Ballet featuring April Watson.

Completing the festival’s stellar lineup are extraordinary performances by Tessandra Chavez (Emmy award-winning contemporary and hip-hop choreographer), and the soloist Addison Ector (Legs_4_Lyfe). Matthew Schroeder and Marie New will grace the stage with a mesmerizing new pas de deux choreographed by Ido Tadmor. The co-hosts for this year’s festival are Vanessa Estelle Williams and Desmond Richardson. Under the artistic direction of Desmond Richardson (Complexions Contemporary Ballet), the festival promises an unforgettable experience for all dance enthusiasts.

Beyond its artistic significance, the Dance for Life Festival raises awareness and amplifies new voices in the ongoing battle against HIV/AIDS and other health disparities. The event also serves as a crucial fundraising platform for three vital organizations dedicated to reducing health disparities, which have been further exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. This year’s festival will provide support to the AMAAD Institute, St. John’s Community Health and amfAR: The Foundation for AIDS Research, channeling much-needed resources to their critical programs.
