The Board of Public Works and the Bureau of Contract Administration recently held its annual Accessing L.A TeamWith event, convening more than 230 business owners.
The event included presentations and a panel discussion on professional and personal services. It also included programs focused on efforts to create jobs.
This year’s TeamWith event was held in collaboration with Mayor Karen Bass’ Office of Economic Development, the Department of Public Works, Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, Los Angeles World Airports, Economic and Workforce Development Department, LA 28, City Council offices and the U.S. Small Business Administration.
“We are building a new L.A, one that is happier, healthier and local, small and diverse business owners are key partners in that work,” Bass said. “I encourage the local business community to take advantage of the resources the Bureau of Contract Administration is offering, including programs for minority and women-owned businesses, among others.”
“Through the Accessing L.A. TeamWith event, the Department of Public Works continues its commitment to level the playing field for historically disadvantaged businesses,” Public Works commissioner Susana Reyes said. “I’m proud of the Bureau of Contract Administration and all its partners for providing small and diverse businesses with a fair shot at sharing in all the contracting opportunities that exist with the city of Los Angeles.”
Information was provided on the Regional Alliance Marketplace for Procurement, a free service provided by the city of Los Angeles that shows all contract opportunities throughout the city in one convenient location.
The event also featured a panel of city agencies the offered information on upcoming contracting and funding opportunities.
“Accessing L.A. is an opportunity to stay connected with our local business community and inform them of developments in the city’s procurement process, such as updates to our Local Business Preference Program and the new Regional Alliance Marketplace for Procurement,” said John L. Reamer, Jr., inspector of public works and director of the Bureau of Contract Administration. “Our goal with this program is to provide the knowledge and resources to uplift our business community and empower them to continue opening doors to success.”
