A photograph of Los Angeles National Cemetery on the cover of the May 23, 1991, issue of the Beverly Press and Park Labrea News was featured in observance of Memorial Day and in commemoration of service members who paid the ultimate sacrifice. This year, the Los Angeles National Cemetery is hosting a Memorial Day ceremony on Monday, May 29, at 10 a.m. at its Columbarium, located on Constitution Avenue on the west side of 405 Freeway, approximately 100 yards from the main entrance to the cemetery at 950 S. Sepulveda Blvd. The event will include speakers, tributes, a Civil War cannon salute and military flyover. For information, call (310)268-4675.
Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills is also holding a Memorial Day commemoration on Monday, May 29, at 10 a.m. Master of ceremonies Michael Ellington will lead the event with a tribute by Brigadier General David Smith, invocation and benediction by Monsignor Frank Hicks, a presidential proclamation by LAPD Deputy Chief Alan Hamilton, music by the Los Angeles Concert Band and family activities.
