The Echo Theater Company is accepting submissions of original unpublished, unproduced, non-musical stage plays that are 60-150 pages for its 2023 New Play Competition. No adaptations or translations will be accepted.

Cash prizes include a $1,000 honorarium for first place, $500 for second place and $250 for third place. The first-place winner will attend a rehearsed, public reading of their play at the Atwater Village Theater in Los Angeles. The second-place winner will receive a rehearsed online reading, and the third-place winner will include a note session with members of the Echo’s artistic staff. The Prize Committee is comprised of Boni Alvarez, Sam Catlin, Angelica Cheri, Val Day, Alana Dietze, Tim Sanford and Jessica Sharzer.

The deadline to apply is July 14. Winners will be announced on Sept. 1.
