Re “Motion to block Bulgari Hotel fails in council,” May 18 issue
The recent L.A. City Council tie vote only postpones the debate of considering a “spot zone” change to allow a commercial building complex in a residential zone. The project is a long way from approval of any type. Don’t make a room reservation yet.
A point that seems to be ignored, which everyone needs to be aware of, is we have a developer proclaiming that his project is “environmentally friendly” and would be a “role model” for other such projects. That is a rather interesting claim.
If your project is “environmentally friendly,” then why have the major recognized environmental groups and organizations come out publicly against the project? You can’t be something you claim to be when professional organizations declare you are not. Wearing a tree costume does not make you a tree.

Rodney has composed such a thoughtful reply to the Bulgari Hotel question which shouldn’t even be a question. His article makes you laugh and while doing so reinforces the idea that wearing a tree costume doesn’t make you a tree anymore than saying your project is “environmentally friendly” makes it so.
