The city of Beverly Hills’ Concerts on Cañon summer season kicks off with a Pride Night concert on Thursday, June 1, at 6 p.m. at Beverly Cañon Gardens, 241 N. Cañon Drive.

Concerts on Cañon is presented by the city’s Community Services Department. The special Pride concert is being held in partnership with the Music Forward Foundation and the Next Beverly Hills Committee.

“Imagine warm summer nights listening to amazing music under the stars in Beverly Cañon Gardens. Add to it great food and great company. That is our Concerts on Cañon series in Beverly Hills. It is also an opportunity to experience music from different cultures from around the world,” Mayor Julian Gold said. “We are especially excited to kick off the series this year with Pride Night in support of the LGBTQIA+ community and celebrating the diversity and inclusion of our city.”

The Pride Night concert and celebration will include Leopold Nunan and Kymistry, past winners of the Music Forward Foundation’s LGBTQIA+ Emerging Artist Awards. Nunan, also known as Leo from Rio, is an award-winning dance music artist and performer who is originally from Brazil. Nunan brings the spirit and energy of Carnaval to every performance. Kymistry is an emerging contemporary R&B artist known for her neo-soul sound.

Also joining the festivities will be Brian Sonia-Wallace, West Hollywood’s poet laureate and founder of Pride Poets, which will use vintage typewriters to craft on-the-spot, personalized poems for the audience.

The free outdoor concert series will take place weekly on Thursdays through Aug. 24 with two 45-minute musical sets starting at 6 p.m. and 7:15 p.m. The season features a line-up of family-friendly entertainment with live music in Beverly Hills’ Golden Triangle. It celebrates the diversity of the community with a mixture of classic rock, jazz, Caribbean, Brazilian and Persian music.
