The Tower Cancer Research Foundation, a Beverly Hills charity, was honored during the May 16 Beverly Hills City Council meeting.
Mayor Julian Gold said the organization was founded by a group of talented volunteers and physicians and provides essential support for people affected by cancer.
The organization awards one-year career development grants and five-year $500 senior investigator grants to fund cutting-edge research, and supports cancer survivors through programs including Magnolia House, which provides survivors with mental, emotional and physical support to improve their lives.
Executive director Steven Abramson thanked the council for the city’s partnership, and deputy director Kelli Sargent added that the organization is excited to host more in-person community events as the threat from COVID-19 wanes.
