Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass announced the appointment on May 2 of Celine Cordero as deputy chief of staff, overseeing the deputy mayors responsible for communications, public safety, community safety and economic opportunity.
Cordero started in the mayor’s office on May 1 and is one of three deputy chiefs of staff.
“Celine Cordero’s work will be essential to meeting our ambitious goals for making Los Angeles safer and more affordable, and I look forward to working with her,” Bass said.
“I am honored to join Mayor Bass’ administration and look forward to working to implement the mayor’s vision related to safety, security and opportunity for all communities in Los Angeles,” Cordero added.
For the last decade, Cordero has been senior vice president of EKA Government Advocacy and Public Affairs. She is an attorney whose extensive city of Los Angeles experience includes serving as deputy mayor for legislative and intergovernmental relations, as associate director for the Office of Homeland Security and Public Safety in the administration of former Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, and as director of external affairs for Los Angeles World Airports.
