Authorities in West Hollywood are searching for a driver who struck three people on May 7 near Santa Monica and San Vicente boulevards after allegedly being involved in an altercation with a pedestrian.
The hit-and-run collision occurred at approximately 3 a.m. and was captured on video by a witness. The driver of a silver Mini Copper was waiting at a stoplight and became involved in a verbal altercation with an unidentified individual in the crosswalk, authorities said. The driver then hit the accelerator and made a tight circle, hitting three people in the crosswalk before driving away.
“After striking the pedestrians with his vehicle, the suspect fled west on Santa Monica Boulevard, then North on Hilldale Avenue,” said Capt. Bill Moulder, of the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station.
The victims sustained minor injuries and were taken by paramedics to a hospital. Authorities said the car was likely a 2011 Mini Cooper S Countryman model. It had black stripes and black wheels, a broken rear windshield and missing front driver’s side fender trim.
