Metro has announced new work at many locations along the subway system, which is expected to open between Wilshire/Western and Wilshire/La Cienega in late 2024. Construction is ongoing daily at street level and in construction yards.
Near Wilshire/La Cienega, decking removal and street restoration work is scheduled to begin on the weekend of April 28-May 1, and continue for eight consecutive weekends. Wilshire Boulevard will be closed from 9 p.m. on Friday through 6 a.m. on Monday between San Vicente and La Cienega boulevards. Plans call for the decking removal to begin near San Vicente Boulevard and progress westward toward La Cienega Boulevard.
Subway construction is also ongoing in staging yards at Wilshire/La Cienega and in a work zone along the south side of Wilshire Boulevard. South Gale and Hamilton drives may be closed intermittently at Wilshire Boulevard. Two lanes will remain open in each direction between La Cienega and San Vicente boulevards.
Street restoration work continues at Wilshire/La Brea and Wilshire/Fairfax. Crews are working in staging yards and at street level at both locations. Works zones are located in the curb lanes and in the center at different sites along Wilshire Boulevard in the Miracle Mile. Wilshire Boulevard has been reduced to two lanes in each direction throughout much of the area, including between Spaulding Avenue and San Diego Way. The work zone on the north side of the street at Wilshire/Fairfax is expected to be in place through early June. A K-rail work zone also remains in place through summer 2024 at Wilshire Boulevard and La Jolla Avenue.
In Beverly Hills, construction is ongoing at the Wilshire/Rodeo station. New traffic configurations are in place. From 7-9 a.m. and 4-8:15 p.m., Wilshire Boulevard will remain open with three lanes in each direction between El Camino and Crescent drives. Beverly Drive may be reduced to two lanes in each direction. From 9 a.m.-4 p.m., Wilshire Boulevard may be reduced to two lanes in each direction between El Camino and Crescent drives, and South Reeves Drive may also be reduced to one northbound lane with flaggers to maintain access. Beverly Drive may be reduced to one lane in each direction. From 8:15 p.m.-7 a.m., Wilshire Boulevard may be reduced to one lane in each direction between El Camino and Crescent Drives. Concrete placement and deliveries will be ongoing in the area. Beverly Drive may be reduced one lane in each direction near Wilshire Boulevard.
Ground improvement also continues at the Wilshire/Rodeo station. Crews will be working along Wilshire Boulevard between Doheny and Wetherly drives through the second week of April. Notices will be provided on future closures for ground improvement work.
In Century City, station construction is ongoing beneath Constellation Boulevard. The work is anticipated to be complete in the third quarter of 2023. Eastbound and westbound vehicle access on Constellation Boulevard is being maintained between Century Park West and Century Park East. Partial traffic lane closures will be in place on Constellation Boulevard.
Work is also ongoing on the Westwood/UCLA subway station. Through April 7, LADWP crews will be inspecting and working on a conduit and duct bank on Wilshire Boulevard between Westwood Boulevard and Gayley Avenue. Three lanes of traffic will remain open on westbound Wilshire Boulevard. Left turns will be restricted from 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. from Wilshire Boulevard on to Westwood Boulevard and Gayley Avenue.
