Raffaella Valentini, Italy’s new consul general in Los Angeles, was welcomed at Il Fornaio Restaurant in Beverly Hills on April 11 by Robert Allegrini, president of the National Italian American Foundation.
“The arrival of Raffaella provides the perfect impetus for NIAF’s post-COVID return to Los Angeles,” Allegrini said. “After a hiatus of a few years, I can assure you that NIAF is now back in California doing what we do best, which is preserving, protecting and promoting the Italian heritage and serving as a bridge between the U.S. and Italy.”
The event included a discussion on the consul general’s vision for the future of relations between Italy and the U.S., and the role of the National Italian American Foundation in strengthening ties between the countries.
Allegrini introduced the new consul general distinguished guests from government and business, as well as the philanthropic and entertainment sectors. Guests included actors Joe Mantegna and Vincent Spano, and comedian Tom Dreesen. Allegrini was joined by NIAF board member Debra DiMaggio and NIAF regional vice presidents Marcella Leonetti-Tyler and Pete Melucci at the event.
