Metro is advising about subway work in March that will require lane closures and construction impacts along the route between Koreatown and Westwood.
Near Wilshire/Western, the current terminus of the Purple Line, crews will be working on utilities through March 31, requiring access to hatches on the street. Intermittent lane closures will be implemented on weekdays from 7 a.m.-3:30 p.m. and 9 p.m.-6 a.m. on Wilshire Boulevard and Western Avenue.
Crews are also working near Wilshire/La Brea, where street restoration continues in March. Wilshire Boulevard will be reduced to two lanes in each direction through June between Highland and La Brea Avenues. A K-rail work zone will be implemented on the south side of Wilshire Boulevard between La Brea and Mansfield avenues to support restoration work on the south side of Wilshire Boulevard. Left turns will be restricted at La Brea, Sycamore, Mansfield and Citrus avenues, as well as Orange Drive.
Work also continues at Wilshire/Fairfax, where weekend roadway restoration work is nearing completion. Crews are working in a construction staging yard at Wilshire Boulevard and Ogden Drive, and at street level on the north side of Wilshire Boulevard. Wilshire Boulevard has been reduced to two lanes in each direction between Spaulding Avenue and San Diego Way. A K-rail enclosure also remains in place at Wilshire Boulevard and La Jolla Avenue.
At Wilshire/La Cienega, two lanes remain open in each direction between La Cienega and San Vicente boulevards. South Gale and Hamilton drives may be closed intermittently at Wilshire Boulevard. Turns from Wilshire Boulevard on to Tower, Gale and Hamilton drives will be restricted. Work is occurring 24 hours in construction staging yards at the Wilshire/La Cienega station.
Sidewalk closures to support utility access will be implemented on March 10 on Wilshire Boulevard and South Gale Drive. The sidewalk on the south side of Wilshire Boulevard between Gale and Hamilton drives will be closed from 7 a.m. on March 10 through 6 p.m. on March 11. The west sidewalk on South Gale Drive will be closed between Gregory Way and Wilshire Boulevard from 7 a.m. on March 10 through 6 p.m. on March 13.
At the Wilshire/Rodeo station, ground improvement work is ongoing in preparation of cross passage tunneling. Fourteen locations along the tunnel alignment will require lane and sidewalk closures. Notices will be provided detailing closures at each location. Construction of the underground subway station will be ongoing through 2024. Daily materials, equipment and concrete deliveries will continue in the area.
Wilshire Boulevard will remain open with three lanes in each direction in Beverly Hills from 7-9 a.m. and 4-8:15 p.m. between El Camino and Crescent drives. Wilshire Boulevard may be reduced to two lanes in each direction from 9 a.m.-4 p.m., and one lane in each direction from 8:15 p.m.-7 a.m., between El Camino and Crescent drives.
Utility work continues in Century City, where excavation is ongoing in a subway station staging yard near Constellation Boulevard and Avenue of the Stars. Work on side structures and passageways along the subway station will continue throughout March.
Partial traffic lane closures are currently in place on Constellation Boulevard to facilitate station excavation, hauling and material deliveries. Eastbound and westbound vehicle access on Constellation Boulevard is being maintained between Century Park West and Century Park East.
Crews will install instruments and monitor equipment through March 31 at the Westwood/UCLA station. One eastbound lane on Wilshire Boulevard will be closed between Westwood Boulevard and Gayley Avenue.
