Re “Power outages spark anger in Hancock Park,” March 2 issue
This was not a unique situation for Hancock Park and that while our power was restored after 72 hours, there were others who still did not have power. The frustration was a collective LOS ANGELES issue as opposed to one limited to Hancock Park.
The power was restored to the other side of the street after over 48 hours of power outage and when I called to report that our side of the street was without power, I was initially told that according to DWP records, we had power restored to the entire street the night before. I also noted that the men and women of DWP worked in the rain to ensure service and that we were extremely grateful to them.
However, communication from the DWP was either completely lacking or absolutely incorrect. Lastly, I said that at the time of crisis when we are powerless (literally and figuratively), we have only our neighbors to rely on and the residents of Lillian Way were spectacular – as always – in uniting and helping one another.
