Los Angeles Fire Department Station 58 recently received a donation of baby back ribs from the First-In Fire Foundation and the office of Los Angeles City Councilwoman Katy Yaroslavsky, 5th District.

The donation was part of the foundation’s Fill the Firehouse Freezer initiative, which supports local firefighters. Ribs from Huntington Meats at the Original Farmers Market were donated to fill a new freezer provided by Wally Marks, of Walter Marks Realty. The food helps firefighters stay prepared.

“We thank local organizations, such as the First-In Fire Foundation, who not only support the fire department and its mission, but also its team members,” Marks said. “Our donation is a great reminder that our business community cares about our firefighters just as much as our neighborhood folks.”

“On the frontlines of everything dangerous, firefighters everywhere face Herculean multiple challenges – from raging wildfires and natural disasters to pandemics and civil unrest and to the usual emergency medical calls and structure fires. Wherever there is fire service, there is hope,” First-In Fire Foundation president Lyn MacEwen Cohen said. “We are honored to be a partner in preparedness with the extraordinary LAFD leadership and fire crews. This week, we delight in delivering legendary ribs, courtesy of the office of Council District Five, supported by Councilwoman Katy Yaroslavsky and the Original Farmers Market. Love from the grassroots is perhaps a big morale boost to local fire stations.”
