The Los Angeles Dodgers announced new additions to Dodger Stadium debuting on Opening Day, Thursday, March 30, presented by Bank of America.
After opening in 1962, Dodger Stadium, the third oldest park in Major League Baseball, continues to sparkle and shine as well as in new amenities and experiences for the greatest and most loyal fans in baseball. The 2023 season will feature many exciting additions, most notably the addition of new state-of-the-art lights. Additionally, legendary left-handed pitcher and Dodger Spanish broadcaster Fernando Valenzuela will have his number 34 retired in August.
During the offseason, the Dodgers replaced all field lights with LED lights. Not only are the LED lights more energy efficient, but they also have color-changing abilities, enhancing the fan experience by utilizing the lights more creatively for on-field celebrations and concerts. The system’s 600 fixtures are part of a unique complete system design, which delivers superior performance and reliability along with key benefits including better visibility for players and fans, reduced energy consumption and environmental impact, improved broadcast quality, enhanced stadium entertainment experience and minimized glare and spill light.
The Centerfield Plaza, Dodger Stadium’s “front door” continues to be the hub Dodger Stadium for all fans.
This season, Dodgers Fans will also be able to enjoy new food items, including the L.A. Cheesesteak (stand 208 field), the Flamin’ Hot Corner (stand 246 field) and Think Blue BBQ (stand 251 field).
Additionally, opening Day at Chavez Ravine will see a further expansion of merchandising collaborations, with a t-shirt series designed by legendary Los Angeles-based tattoo artist and creative Mister Cartoon.
