The city of Beverly Hills will install a new mayor and vice mayor on April 4 at The Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts. Current Vice Mayor Julian Gold will be installed as mayor, and Councilman Lester Friedman will be installed as vice mayor. The City Council appoints a new mayor and vice mayor from within its membership every year.
Beverly Hills will use one of its “free-use” days to host the installation at The Wallis, according to a staff report. As part of its lease agreement with The Wallis, the city can host up to 10 daytime and 10 nighttime events in the theater each calendar year.
The only other free-use day approved so far this year is for the MADE Beverly Hills event, an architecture and design festival from May 4-7.
The cost for the mayoral and vice mayoral installations are not expected to exceed $15,000, according to the report.
