Beverly Hills Police Department officers arrested three suspects on Feb. 20 who ran from police during a traffic stop after allegedly committing a theft at a Whole Foods store at 239 N. Crescent Drive, BHPD Capt. Giovanni Trejo said.
BHPD officers were alerted to the theft at 5:22 p.m., and while driving to the scene learned the suspects fled in a vehicle, Trejo said.
The suspects drove southbound on Crescent Drive, and police caught up to the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop at approximately 5:45 p.m., Trejo said. After the vehicle stopped, the suspects fled on foot, he added.
The BHPD established a “containment area,” stationing police vehicles at nearby intersections to close routes of escape, Trejo said. The three suspects were located at approximately 8 p.m. within the containment area, he added.
Trejo said that the suspects were unarmed, and he did not have details about the theft or the getaway vehicle.
He added that there were no injuries reported. The suspects were booked for felony burglary, conspiracy to commit a crime and resisting an investigation.
The three suspects, Govanna Roger, 20, Teijhane Rucker, 25, and Damian Reed, 26, were all from Northern California, though it was unclear how long they had been in Beverly Hills, Trejo said. Roger and Rucker are from Oakland, while it is unclear where Reed is from, Trejo added.
